HSE & quality

Safety and quality are the scope

On a mechanical subcontract, quality is not a department. It is the sequence of hold points, tests and records that lets a main contractor sign off the system. This is how we execute and evidence it.

QA / QC approach

Inspection and test plans are agreed with the main contractor before mobilisation, with hold and witness points fixed against the construction programme. Welding procedures and welder qualifications are in place before the first joint.

  • Inspection and test plans (ITPs) agreed before mobilisation
  • Hold points and witness points fixed against the programme
  • Qualified welding procedures and welder performance qualifications
  • Dimensional control: roundness, peaking, banding, verticality
  • NDT coordination and third-party inspection support
  • Punch listing, clearance and mechanical completion dossiers

Our general manager has executed to the project specifications of Aramco, Technip, Uhde, TTIL and AGIP, alongside ASME and API codes.

Health, safety & environment

Work at height, confined space entry, hot work and heavy lifting are the four activities that define tank erection, and the four that have to be planned before anyone mobilises.

  • Method statements and risk assessments issued before mobilisation
  • Permit-to-work discipline on operating plant
  • Confined space entry procedures for tank internals
  • Work-at-height and scaffolding control during shell erection
  • Hot work control and fire watch during welding
  • Lifting plans for roof structure and heavy sections
  • Toolbox talks and daily activity briefing
