
Storage tanks
Field-erected storage tanks are the discipline this company was built around: fixed and floating roof, single and double shell, in carbon steel, stainless steel and 9% nickel for cryogenic service. We take the tank from annular plates through shell courses and roof structure to hydrotest, passivation and handover.

How a tank goes up
Five stages, in the order they happen on site. Each one is a scope we execute and a place where a tank is won or lost.

Foundation & ring beam
The tank starts below the steel. A reinforced ring beam and compacted pad carry the shell load, laid out to tight tolerance because every error here propagates up through forty metres of plate.

Setting out, ring beam coordination, levelling survey and acceptance before plate arrives.

Bottom & annular plates
Annular plates are laid around the perimeter with lap and butt welds, then the bottom sketch plates. The weld sequence is planned to control distortion, because an out-of-flat bottom cannot be corrected later.

Shell courses
Rolled plates are erected course by course, each ring fitted, aligned and welded vertically then horizontally. Roundness, peaking and banding are checked as the shell rises, and verticality is surveyed continuously.

Nozzles, manways & accessories
Shell and roof penetrations are set in with reinforcing plates, then ladders, platforms and handrails. Each nozzle is a discontinuity in a pressure boundary and is treated as one.

Roof structure
Radial rafters and the roof plate complete the tank. For larger tanks the structure is assembled at grade and lifted as one, the operation the whole erection sequence is planned around.
